SPECIALIST

This is a seasonal position beginning in June and continuing for 10 weeks.
The Camp Specialist designs and leads safe, engaging, and age-appropriate specialty programs that support the camp’s mission. This role requires strong instructional skills, leadership, and enthusiasm for working with children. Camp Specialists supervise and motivate staff, manage program equipment and spaces, and actively participate in all camp activities, including theme days and special programs.
Specialty Areas Available:
Arts & Crafts, Archery (training provided), Israeli Culture, Dance, Outdoor Cooking, Sports, Nature, Music
Key Responsibilities
Design and deliver engaging specialty programs aligned with camper ages and abilities
Develop and implement progressive lesson plans and adapt activities as needed
Ensure safety procedures are followed and model best practices
Train and support staff within the specialty area
Maintain program spaces, equipment, and supplies
Communicate regularly with campers, staff, and supervisors
Participate in all camp activities, meetings, and special events
Qualifications
Experience working in a summer camp or youth program
Experience teaching or leading activities for children and/or teens
First Aid and CPR certification (or willingness to obtain before camp)
Strong communication, organization, and leadership skills
Ability to work outdoors, remain flexible, and maintain high energy
Physical & Other Requirements
Ability to stand, lift up to 50 lbs., and respond to emergencies
Comfortable working outdoors in varying weather conditions
Must pass a Michigan background and central registry check
Completion of required Sexual Abuse Prevention training prior to start
This is a hands-on, high-energy role ideal for individuals passionate about youth development and leading dynamic specialty programs.
Monday through Friday 8 a.m. through 3:30 p.m.
Working 37.5 hours per week
