SENIOR COUNSELOR

This is a seasonal position beginning in June and continuing for 10 weeks.
Position Summary
Senior Counselors serve as primary caregivers and role models for campers, ensuring their safety, well-being, and positive camp experience. This role is responsible for supervising campers, leading engaging activities, and fostering an inclusive, supportive camp environment aligned with the camp’s mission.
Key Responsibilities
Provide active supervision and guidance to campers throughout all daily activities.
Foster camper growth using youth development principles, including communication, inclusion, and empowerment.
Plan, lead, and support age-appropriate camp activities, including swim instruction and specialty programs (arts, nature, waterfront, and all-camp events).
Enforce all camp safety, health, and behavior policies at all times.
Support camper health needs, including medication administration as directed by the camp nurse.
Serve as a positive role model through professionalism, teamwork, sportsmanship, and adherence to camp schedules.
Monitor facilities and equipment and report safety or maintenance concerns.
Complete evaluations, reports, and other duties as assigned by the Camp Director.
Qualifications
Must be at least 18 years old.
First Aid/CPR certification required (or willingness to obtain; training provided).
Completion of all required paperwork and Abuse Prevention Training prior to start date.
Experience working with children and understanding of youth development principles preferred.
Strong communication, leadership, and behavior management skills.
Ability to respond calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
Physical & Work Requirements
Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift (up to 50 lbs.), and participate in active outdoor programming.
Willingness to work outdoors in varying weather conditions and camp environments.
Flexibility to work irregular hours as required by camp operations.
Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
Working 37.5 hours per week.
