Mem Global seeks a contractor to serve as Head Counselor for a session of Camp Nai East. Camp Nai Nai Nai (CN3) staff members are an integral part of the CN3 team and have the responsibility to design and facilitate the camp program. The Head Counselor will work individually and with a team of other CN3 staff to ideate, create, and implement programs for the camp session, both in advance of and during camp itself. The Head Counselor will co-lead with the Camp Director, and will be responsible for participating in the planning prior to Camp, as well as staffing Camp

This is a temporary contracting position that will report into the Associate Director, Camps & Retreats, and is anticipated to run from April 1st, 2026 through September 11th, 2026.

What You'll Do:

  • Collaborate with the Camp Director and the Director of Education at Mem Global to develop small group programming (referred to as Mishpacha programming), three 45-minute daily activities that fuse together social gathering, Jewish education, and camp elements for 12-15 people; including:
    • Developing printed materials, drafting supply needs, and training counselors on how to facilitate Mishpacha programming.
  • Prior to the camp session, you’ll:
    • Develop and lead 1-3 staff training calls prior to the camp session in collaboration with Camp Director.
    • Create and lead staff icebreakers during staff day.
    • Be a member of the Camp Nai core team and attend bi-weekly meetings in the months leading up to Camp Nai and weekly meetings in the weeks prior to Camp Nai.
  • Attend and staff the Camp Nai East 2026 session, during which you’ll:
    • Lead daily check-ins with Counselors during the camp session;
    • Lead Counselors in developing preliminary camper correspondence;
    • Assign and monitor Counselors’ assignments throughout camp which support activities outside of Mishpacha programming;
    • Advocate on behalf of Counselors to camp leadership and support Counselor morale throughout the camp session;
    • Keep general staff energized and motivated throughout the camp session;
    • Coordinate response with camp leadership as needed for individual and broader behavior issues, if any are identified during the camp session;
    • Keep the Camp Director and leadership informed of what’s happening on the ground during the camp session.

  • You have the ability to multitask effectively, pay attention to details, navigate high-pressure situations, and think quickly on your feet to implement contingency plans and solve issues as they arise.
  • You are open, curious, adaptable, and driven, with the ability to work hard, learn, adjust, and grow in real time.
  • Proven experience facilitating trainings, reflections, and educational programs.
  • Experience working with young adults from diverse backgrounds.
  • Experience with service learning or experiential education, including planning and/or leading programs.
  • Eligibility to work in the United States without sponsorship and travel as needed within North America to attend camp sessions.

The Fine Print:

The Head Counselor role is a part-time contractor position that requires access to a personal laptop, works approximately 5 weekday hours per week in the 6 months leading up to camp, in addition to attending the CN3 East session that will be held in Waynesboro, PA, running from September 2nd through September 8th, 2026.

This position works remotely, can be located anywhere in the United States, with a preference for the East Coast, and reports into the Associate Director, Camps & Retreats.

How Mem Global Pays You:

This is a contractor position that does not provide health benefits or tax payment; the full offered compensation for completing the work under this contractor agreement is:

  • $1,200 - $1,400, depending on prior camp experience.
