With an expansive fitness center, highly regarded early childhood school and senior center, arts and cultural events offered throughout the year, and classes for every age, the JCC connects, enriches, and inspires over 27,000 visitors per month. POSITION SUMMARY

Assistant Drama Teacher will work closely with the Director and the creative team to support the overall creative vision of the production. Prior to the start of rehearsals, the Assistant Director is expected to read and study the script and meet with the Director to discuss the production concept.
Key responsibilities include supporting the Director during rehearsals, helping manage the young performers, and supporting the Director in implementing their vision. The Assistant Drama Teacher will also partner with the Director and creative team in the casting process and contribute to creating a positive, focused rehearsal environment.
The Assistant Teacher will assist actors with character development, aligning with the vision of the show. Additional tasks may be assigned as needed.
The expectation is that the assistant teacher will attend all rehearsals, performances, and production meetings.
Rehearsals for the Minis fall play begin on August 23 and are on Sundays from 2 – 4 pm, with a five-week break in September. Rehearsals for the Juniors fall play begin on August 25 and are twice a week from 5:00 – 7:00pm. There are additional rehearsal dates and times beginning on November 2.
Juniors performances are Thursday, November 12 at 7pm and Sunday, November 15 at 2pm.
Minis performances are Sunday, December 6 at 1pm and 3pm.
CANDIDATES SHOULD HAVE THE FOLLOWING SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
  • Must be 18 years of age or older
  • Comfortable working with children ages 5 – 14
  • Prior experience working in children’s programing or educational theatre
  • A proactive, collaborative approach to the work
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Patience, flexibility, and the ability to manage multiple priorities

COMPENSATION OFFERED:
  • Complimentary six-month single membership to the Mayerson JCC Fitness Center
  • Contracted at $800 for Juniors production and $400 for Minis, or $1200 for both positions.
