ABOUT OHR TORAH
Ohr Torah Cincinnati (OTC) in Cincinnati, Ohio is a Jewish independent school that serves toddlers through eighth grade. We focus on fostering and infusing a true love for learning in all that we do and an appreciation and awe for learning across all subject areas and throughout every aspect of the children’s day. Specifically, we provide a carefully planned, stimulating, and structured learning environment along with an integrated, robust curriculum across and within Judaic and General Studies. Our approach to learning builds independence in students and honors the innate yearning for discovery inherent in all people.
POSITION SUMMARY:
Ohr Torah Cincinnati is looking for a highly qualified teacher to teach Middle School (7th and 8th grade) English Language Arts and Social Studies. At OTC, great autonomy is given to teachers to be creative, innovative, and passionate, while being highly attuned to the needs of adolescents. The ideal candidate can execute a student-centered, project-based, innovative program and possess a flexible mindset and approach to learning.
Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
Instructional Responsiveness & Content Knowledge
  • Craft, internalize, and implement high-quality, challenging, and engaging lesson plans using provided curriculum resources to meet the diverse needs of all learners.
  • Review student data individually and with administration to plan for re-teaching and follow-up lessons.
  • Develop individualized learning plans for students and communicate these plans to families in parent meetings and conferences.
  • Collaborate with team to promote an environment of critical thinking and academic rigor.
Care of Students & Classroom Culture
  • Build a classroom culture that empowers students, affirms their identities, and creates a sense of belonging for all students
  • Implement the school-wide and classroom management policies and practices
  • Create a responsive and inclusive environment for parents and families
  • Establish and maintain working relationships with students and families based on trust and respect.
Team Support
  • Attend staff meetings, professional development sessions, and team meetings.
  • Participate in the daily functions of the school such as morning, mid-day, and afternoon supervisory duties.
  • Embrace and incorporate feedback in the spirit of constant improvement.
  • Meet professional obligations including timeliness and consistency in meeting deadlines.
ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or related field required
  • Master’s degree in education or related field a plus
  • Experience working with adolescents
  • Team player with strong collaborative and communication skills
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn, ability to take direction well

Pay Range: $50,000 - $60,000 per year
