POSITION SUMMARY:

Jewish Family Service of Cincinnati is seeking a Mental Health Professional to join our Youth Mental Health program, a high-priority and growing department within the agency. The Youth Mental Health program addresses unmet mental health needs of youth, teens, and young adults through counseling services, care coordination, community education, and strong partnerships with local organizations.
The Youth Mental Health Intake Clinician is a key member of the Youth Mental Health team and is responsible for providing diagnostic assessments and counseling services. This role works closely with the Youth Mental Health Team Director and Team Leader to coordinate intake, assessment, enrollment into counseling services, or appropriate diversion to community-based supports, while collaborating with internal staff and community partners to ensure timely, high-quality, and responsive access to care.

MORE ABOUT THE ROLE:

Diagnostic Assessment and Treatment Planning
  • Respond to mental health referrals from community members, families, and partner organizations.
  • Complete comprehensive behavioral health diagnostic assessments for Youth Mental Health clients, as clinically indicated.
  • Develop individualized, medically necessary treatment recommendations based on assessment findings and client needs.
  • Collaborate with community professionals and the client’s natural support system to assess current needs and determine appropriate levels of care.
  • Provide accurate diagnoses using the current edition of the DSM and document clinical decision-making in accordance with agency and regulatory standards.
Counseling
  • Utilize therapeutic and evidence-informed interventions and assessment techniques as appropriate to address client needs.
  • Provide individual and family counseling services. Deliver therapeutic interventions, consistent with treatment recommendations and client goals and in accordance with best practices, professional ethics, and clearly defined clinical boundaries.
  • Coordinate ongoing service needs, including referrals, consultation, and care transitions as appropriate.
Community-Based and Embedded Program Support
  • Support and strengthen mental health services within embedded partner organizations by providing assessment, consultation, and clinical services as part of the Youth Mental Health program’s community-based model.
  • Collaborate closely with embedded partners to enhance access to care, responsiveness, and continuity of services for youth and families.
Program Administration
  • Manage time, caseload, and tasks efficiently to meet required timelines and program expectations.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and compliant clinical documentation and treatment records for each client.
  • Track and report data and outcomes to support quality improvement efforts and evaluate program effectiveness.
  • Participate in program and community activities, as assigned.
CANDIDATES SHOULD HAVE THE FOLLOWING SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:
  • A master’s degree in a behavioral health field is preferred. Candidates with active dependent or independent licensure will be considered; independent licensure is preferred.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience delivering mental health services, including diagnostic assessment and treatment planning, to youth, teens, and/or young adults.
  • Cultural knowledge of key populations served.
  • Strong writing and communication skills.
  • Ability to collaborate with, and engage, community partners and manage projects.
  • A flexible work schedule is offered. Participation in program and community activities outside of standard business hours may be required, including evenings and weekends, based on client needs, partner organization schedules, and overall team coverage.
  • Ability to work independently and as a part of a team.
  • Valid driver’s license, reliable transportation, and proof of auto insurance
