The Annual Giving Manager will play a pivotal role in shaping the philanthropic landscape of Hillel Day School. The Manager will report to the Director of Advancement and join a highly collaborative team, working with key staff and volunteers to implement a strategic annual fund program to raise $1M annually. Tasked with planning and executing comprehensive strategies, this role is dedicated to identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding Hillel’s annual donors. With a strategic focus on expanding donor outreach, acquisition, and engagement, this position aims to significantly enhance the base of annual gifts through proactive prospect management and donor relations. Key Responsibilities:

  • Strategically develop, manage, and implement comprehensive annual giving initiatives
  • Collaborate closely with Hillel’s Advancement Team to develop cohesive messaging that resonates with donors and prospects, aligning with solicitation efforts and personalized donor stewardship communications
  • Identify, cultivate, and solicit new and existing donors to secure gifts and meet the school’s overall fundraising goals via diverse channels such as online platforms, direct mail, digital campaigns, events, and direct solicitations
  • Engage and oversee the Advancement Committee and its underlying subcommittees, including meeting scheduling, developing agendas, presentations, and other materials and regular communications to set them up for success
  • Oversee the parent campaign (Kehillah Campaign), staff campaign, and manage a portfolio of annual donors up to $1,800
  • Cultivate and nurture positive relationships with individual donors, fostering a sense of community and investment in Hillel’s mission
  • Strategize and manage annual donor stewardship, engagement, and appreciation efforts and events to increase annual donor retention and gift levels
  • Create and manage metrics to measure the effectiveness of annual strategies, working with the team to build and analyze donor lists and reports, refine strategies, and enhance return on investment
  • Help the Director of Marketing and Events in contributing to the planning of relevant events, large and small, alumni reunions, and volunteer appreciation events
  • Manage the Memorial/Tribute Gift program, including notifying donors and family members
  • Ensure the accuracy and timeliness of Raiser’s Edge database entries, reporting procedures, acknowledgments, and donor stewardship activities
  • Oversee the work of the Advancement Administrative Assistant in processing, recording, and documentation all gifts and pledges generated through annual giving and other appeals
  • Create a deep partnership with the Director of Advancement, learning from her expertise in the field and within the organization
Requirements

Key Qualifications:

  • 3-5 years of proven experience in crafting and implementing effective fundraising strategies
  • Self-motivated and proactive, with a demonstrated ability to drive initiatives independently and collaboratively
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build rapport and effectively engage diverse stakeholders
  • Exceptional organizational skills, with a detail-oriented approach
  • Experience engaging and managing volunteer groups
  • Strategic-thinker and forward-looking mindset
  • Understanding of database management, gift processing, and donor relations. Knowledge of Raiser’s Edge is a plus.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills with the ability to identify new opportunities
  • A strong worth ethic, including the ability to work efficiently and graciously under pressure; meet deadlines; demonstrate strategic thinking and good decision-making; maintain and model high personal, ethical, and professional standards; and have a sense of humor and ability to have fun
  • Ability to inspire, influence, and build credibility with donors, lay leadership, and staff
  • Proficient in Google Workspace
