GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION

The material handler is primarily responsible for sorting and dismantling various types of electronics in a production environment meeting established daily quotas.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

High School diploma or equivalent.

Other:

Ability to use hand tools such as screwdrivers, pliers, cutting instruments, hammers, pry-bars, etc. Able to lift 50 lbs. Able to work in an environment where you may be constantly moving. Ability to identify and tell the difference between different types of electronics and various materials such as steel, plastic, aluminum, and copper. Sufficient math skills to perform duties involving addition and subtraction. Sufficient reading skills to read instructions and information printed on electronics. Able to work with others and be respectful. Knowledge of electronics and basic computer skills a plus.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Move, lift, sort, and stack electronics by type or material from various containers.
  • Cut wires, remove ink from printers, and perform other preparations tasks on materials.
  • Dismantle computers using hand tools and sort the pieces by type and material.
  • Use a pallet jack to move pallets of material around the warehouse.
  • Weigh pallets on scale and calculate gross and net weights.
  • Assemble cardboard boxes and gaylords.
  • Use brooms and other cleaning tools to clean up debris, spills, and broken pieces.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Environmental conditions:

  • Moderate noise (i.e., business office with computers, phone, and printers, light traffic).
  • Ability to work in a confined area.
  • Ability to sit at a computer terminal for an extended period.

Physical requirements:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to, stand, sit; talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard, reach, stoop, kneel to install computer equipment.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements due to computer work.
  • Light to moderate lifting in required.
