GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION

The role of the Residential Area Manager is the responsibility for the overall management of specific Gesher Human Services programs. Coordinate residential services necessary to meet client needs through provision of service, treatment and supervision of all services provided by staff and contractors. Participate in the development of new and existing programs. Responsible for ensuring that facilities and documentation meet applicable rules, licensed and non-licensed accreditation standards, and contract requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required:

  • Three to five years of previous management experience of staff members in human services or business area with supervisory responsibilities and programs or an associate or bachelor’s degree in human service or business field.

Other:

  • Must have a valid State of Michigan driver’s license with acceptable driving record.
  • Experience in providing services to the mentally ill population.
  • Experience in providing case management preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability in personnel selection, supervision, and management.
  • Able to work independently and in a group setting.
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate in verbal and written formats to meet position responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated ability and willingness to be flexible with change based on client demand and/or accreditation standards or the department’s needs.
  • Ability to articulate and actively support the mission of the Agency to various audiences.
  • Ability to read and follow documents and directions and teach others new skills.
  • Ability to learn new tasks and comply with directions.
  • Computer experience: Word, Outlook, Excel.
  • Extremely organized, detailed, friendly and employee relations focused.
  • Must be reliable and self-motivated with a keen eye for detail.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Direct supervision of House Managers and staff of licensed and unlicensed homes.
  • Ensure all policies and procedures of Agency are being upheld.
  • Fulfills all applicable contractual requirements and ensures ongoing compliance with licensing, accreditation, and health department regulations, including timely submission of plans of correction and other required reports.
  • Support Director of Development in exploring and accessing alternate funding source(s) through program-driven grant submissions and fundraising activities.
  • Monitor FTE’s budgeted, position numbers filled, and management performance related to pay equity.
  • Supports implementation of best practice strategies to ensure that each client receives excellent care and treatment.
  • Responsible to ensure the health and safety of each client and staff.
  • Ensure development and implementation of procedures regarding coverage and scheduling for department(s), including crisis management and routine problem solving with designated staff.
  • Ensure appropriate utilization review for residents within Gesher Human Services.
  • Identify, follow-through and correct problem areas. Develop and implement methods for House Manager improvement of residential services.
  • Ensure the protection and promotion of the rights of clients.
  • Participate in the hiring, training, evaluating and direct supervision of staff as designated in the organizational chart.
  • Ensure that all required personal professional development, training objectives and evaluations and goals of the House Managers are met on a timely basis.
  • Guarantee facilities are maintained in such a fashion to ensure a safe and clean environment for clients, staff and public.
  • Responsible for timely development, monitoring and compliance with department budgets.
  • Be on time and attend all mandatory meetings.
  • Coordinate transportation for special events.
  • Be on call to handle any issues, questions or concerns during shifts according to on-call schedule of the Residential department.
  • Responsible to conduct themselves in a professional and respectful manner always.
  • Complete assigned paperwork in a professional and timely manner.
  • Follow Gesher Human Services mission statement and Ethical Code of Conduct.
  • Abide by the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) Code of Ethics, Adult Protection Code, Mental Health Code, and Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) guidelines.
  • Review and approve direct reports timecards.
  • Accountable to address and answer all reasons and questions regarding overtime hours per payroll.
  • Assist Intake Coordinator with residential placement and intake of appropriate candidates.
  • Assist with proper procedure and approve drill reports for all homes.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Environmental conditions:

  • Moderate noise (i.e., business office with computers, phone, and printers, light traffic).
  • Ability to work in a confined area.
  • Ability to sit at a computer terminal for an extended period.

Physical requirements:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to, stand, sit; talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard, reach, stoop, kneel to install computer equipment.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements due to computer work.
  • Light to moderate lifting in required.
