GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION

The Residential Scheduling Specialist is responsible for scheduling staff to work scheduled shifts and allowing the department to function smoothly. As the Scheduling Specialist you will track staff overtime and utilize staff more efficiently to meet the staffing needs of all homes.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Must be over the age of 18
  • Valid Michigan driver’s license, three (3) years of driving experience, and must have own vehicle at work, vehicle insurance and registration
  • Computer skills needed to navigate a web-based scheduling platform

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Support the staffing needs of residential participants with disabilities
  2. Develop and distribute weekly schedules for Residential DSPs (Direct Support Professionals) and Lead DSPs.
  3. Track and approve scheduled and unscheduled overtime.
  4. Communicate with managers and area managers to understand the staffing needs of each home/resident and to ensure all shifts are properly covered
  5. Answer phone calls and emails in a timely manner
  6. Assist management team with screening and interviewing new staff.
  7. Flexibility to work on-call weekends
  8. Follow all emergency procedures
  9. Follow the Adult Protection Code, Mental Health Code, Gesher Values, and the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) guidelines.
  10. Complete all assigned trainings and attend meetings as assigned.
  11. Other duties as assigned

WORKING CONDITIONS

Environmental conditions:

  • Moderate noise (i.e., business office with computers, phone, and printers, light traffic).
  • Ability to work in residential home environment
  • Ability to sit at a computer terminal for 30-60 minutes

Physical requirements:

  • Stand, sit; talk, hear, climb steps and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard, reach, stoop, and kneel.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision to read medication administration procedures, operate computer and read operating procedures
  • Light to moderate lifting in required.
