GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION

The primary responsibility of this position is to transport the people we serve to a variety of appointments, errands, and events within the community.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent degree.
  • At least two (2) years of related experience working with adults with psychiatric disabilities.
  • Valid Michigan driver’s license, three (3) years of driving experience, and vehicle insurance and registration.
  • Ability to read and follow documents and directions.
  • Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Professional behavior and conduct toward all co-workers, people served and family members.
  • Ability to learn new tasks and comply with directions.
  • Computer experience: Word, Outlook, ability to access the internet.
  • Ability to problem solve, troubleshoot, and make independent decisions.
  • Extremely organized and detailed.
  • Reliable and self-motivated with a keen eye for detail.
  • Willingness to work in a team environment and strong team player.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Provide transportation, with agency vehicle or own vehicle, to client appointments, errands, events, etc.
  • Participate with the treatment team, as needed, and share relevant information regarding people served.
  • Complete all required documentation including all contacts and information relating to people we serve.
  • Complete all required trainings.
  • Provide transportation in the event of client emergencies during and after office hours.
  • Attend department meetings as requested.
  • Follow Gesher mission statement and ethical code of conduct and handbook.
  • Abide by the National Association of Social Workers (NASW) Code of Ethics, Adult Protection Code, Mental Health Code, and the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF) guidelines.
  • Perform any additional duties as assigned by supervisor.

WORKING CONDITIONS

Environmental conditions:

  • Moderate noise (i.e., business office with computers, phone, and printers, light traffic).
  • Ability to work in a confined area.
  • Ability to sit at a computer terminal for an extended period.

Physical requirements:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to, stand, sit; talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard, reach, stoop, kneel to install computer equipment.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements due to computer work.
  • Light to moderate lifting in required.
