GENERAL JOB DESCRIPTION

The Site Supervisor will develop comprehensive programming, recruit/orient/train/evaluate staff, track data, and elicit feedback from participants and family members.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

B.S. Degree in Therapeutic Recreation or an equivalent degree. Must be certified or working toward equivalent certification.

Other:

Two years’ experience in providing recreation therapy, including at least one year in providing services to older adults. Experience in a day care program and supervisory experience are preferred. Interpersonal skills sufficient to communicate with participants, public, and staff. Must be able to work with a broad range of memory-impaired individuals. Creative and flexible approach is required. Composition skills sufficient to complete required documentation and correspondence. Valid Michigan driver’s license. Driving record must be sufficient to meet safe driving standards as established by Agency insurance carrier.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  1. Recruit, orient, train and evaluate designated staff. Complete written performance evaluations as required.
  2. Develop comprehensive programming to meet the needs of Brown Program participants with Alzheimer’s disease and other dementia disorders.
  3. Maintain compliance, communication and coordinate with SMART.
  4. Work with Volunteer Coordinator to screen and onboard volunteers. Supervise student interns and volunteers.
  5. Asist in entering and tracking data to ensure that program outcomes are being achieved.
  6. Complete program outcome reports (KPI).
  7. Elicit feedback from participants and family members to enhance activities programming.
  8. Complete, submit and maintain reports as required.
  9. Work collaboratively with music therapist, other vendors and staff, volunteers, and invited guests to incorporate their specialized experience into Brown Program activities programming.
  10. Elicit feedback from participants and family members to enhance programming.
  11. Track data to ensure that program outcomes are being achieved.
  12. Complete, submit and maintain reports as required.
  13. Coordinating and leading staff meetings and trainings.
  14. Serve on Agency committee(s) as appointed.

SUPPLEMENTAL DUTIES:

  1. Work on special projects as identified and assigned with the Program Coordinator (i.e.: Caregiver Day Off Event, Dementia Friendly Yom Kippur service)
  2. Schedule and plan recurring events with the Program Coordinator (i.e.: Summer Family Ice Cream Social, Family Holiday Party)

WORKING CONDITIONS

Environmental conditions:

  • Moderate noise (i.e., business office with computers, phone, and printers, light traffic).
  • Ability to work in a confined area.
  • Ability to sit at a computer terminal for an extended period.

Physical requirements:

  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to, stand, sit; talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer and telephone keyboard, reach, stoop, kneel to install computer equipment.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements due to computer work.
  • Light to moderate lifting in required.
