Congregation Shir Tikvah seeks a part-time administrative assistant (21 hours a week) to support our leadership team, including the rabbi, executive director, and director of lifelong learning. Reporting to the executive director, the ideal candidate will be a self-starter, with excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills who thrives in a team environment.
\nCongregation Shir Tikvah is a 240-household Reform/Renewal synagogue in Troy, Michigan. CST has a wide geographic reach, drawing congregants from many Detroit suburbs as well as more distant locations. We pride ourselves on diversity and inclusion, welcoming all who wish to practice our joyful, hands-on brand of progressive Judaism. Our family education program includes a religious school that is home to 45 students in grades Pre-K through 7, as well as programs for adults

The administrative assistant performs a broad range of tasks, including:
\n\n
Administrative:
\n\n
- \n
- Prepare and disseminate materials as assigned for weekly religious services, as well as meetings, events, and programs, and the Family Education Program(flyers, weekly announcements, etc.) \n
- Solicit information for board meetings (agendas, information materials, etc.) and make copies \n
- Oversee and coordinate all mailings, including the newsletter, pledge letters, gift acknowledgments, yahrzeit letters, announcements, etc. \n
- Prepare and send out weekly online “eblast” updates to members \n
- Maintain inventory of office, kitchen and other building supplies \n
- Develop and maintain filing system for administrative materials and documents \n
- Check and respond to inquiries left on the main line, routing to the appropriate person \n
\n
Marketing/PR (Internal and External)
\n- \n
- Create and post congregation and Family Ed content on l social media platforms, including the congregation’s Facebook and Instagram sites, as well as on other Jewish social media (JFamily, etc.) \n
- Provide additional support for congregational marketing initiatives \n
- Maintain and update website \n
- Prepare monthly online and print newsletter, including designing layout, gathering content , listing member birthdays, anniversaries, etc., and disseminating by print/email. \n
- Create /maintain signups for events and activities \n
\n
Rabbinical Support:
\n\n
- \n
- Maintain/ensure coordination of the rabbi’s calendar, ensuring appointments are properly scheduled and with consideration to her full range of tasks \n
- Prioritize follow-up for emails and phone calls to the rabbi, handling routine inquiries and routing those needing her attention to her. \n
- Provide follow-up for rabbi’s meetings \n
- Support non-rabbinical tasks for b’nai mitzvahs with b’nai mitzvah coordinator \n
\n
Lifelong Learning Support
\n\n
- \n
- Maintain spreadsheet of dates and events and create flyers \n
- Create spreadsheet for teachers with class lists and parent contact information \n
- Ensure Shul Cloud database is current with parent and student contact information \n
- Assist with set-up for scheduled Family Ed events \n
\n
Qualifications
\n- \n
- Experience working in an administrative capacity with multiple and competing deadlines and projects \n
- Strong interpersonal skills \n
- Ability to plan and implement tasks and projects \n
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail \n
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Office \n
- Social media skills (content creation, etc.) \n
